Wisden MCC Cricket Photo of the Year
The 2013 Wisden MCC Cricket Photo of the Year competition, in association with 21six, is open to all photographers – amateur and professional – from across the world. All photographs entered must have been taken in the calendar year 2013 and should demonstrate the skill and artistry of the photographer. There is no restriction on subject matter as long as it has a cricket theme. Action shots, landscapes, portraits, images of dramatic or aesthetic appeal – all are equally welcome.
The winning images in 2013 will be selected by a panel of independent expert judges appointed by Wisden and MCC, and headed by former Chief Sports Photographer of The Sunday Times, Chris Smith. A shortlist of eleven entries will initially be chosen, from which a winner and two runners-up will be announced. In addition to the cash prizes provided by 21six, the top three photographs will feature in the 2014 Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack, and all of the shortlisted entries will be exhibited at Lord’s throughout next year.
Plans to run the competition in perpetuity mean that each short list of eleven photographs will form part of a growing archive that documents the changing face of cricket.
Commenting about the new sponsorship deal, Managing Director of 21six, Rick Ankers, said: “21six are very proud to support the prestigious 2013 Wisden–MCC Cricket Photograph of the Year competition.”21six has evolved to serve the digital, marketing, publishing and print needs of today’s fast-moving business community; equipped with the right people, the right resources and the right experience to rise to your challenges. “We share a passion for original creativity and outstanding imagery, and are delighted to sponsor this award.
