Wiki Loves Monuments Photo Contest
Would you like to participate in Wiki Loves Monuments Photo Contest, and have a chance to win one of the wonderful prizes? The only thing you have to do for that is upload a freely-licensed image of a monument in one of the participating countries to Wikimedia Commons.
Every country has its own monuments, organisation, partners and awards – and the ten best photos for each country will be submitted to the international contest. That way, you automatically participate in the world-wide contest by participating in a national contest in September.
There are a few rules for photos to participate in the international contest. Most of these rules are also adopted as rules for participation on a national level. Every submission should be:
Self taken and self uploaded;
Uploaded in September 2013;
Freely licensed;
Contain an identified monument;
Nominated through a national contest
Next to that, there are a few practical rules:
The participant should have an activated e-mail address on the upload platform;
The first winner will get to choose the first prize etc.
Each national contest will be able promote ten images into the international level of contest. The international jury, made up of five members with different skills and backgrounds, will determine the winners of this final round out of the nominated images and award the prizes.
The jury will determine the winners of the international contest taking into the consideration the following criteria (in no particular order):
Technical quality (sharpness, use of light, perspective etc.);
Originality;
Usefulness of the image for Wikipedia.
