These are the Most Whimsical Photography Projects You’ve Ever Seen
November 23, 2017It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of both photography and all things whimsical, so when the two combine, it really is quite spectacular!
Today I’ve rounded-up the most whimsical and enchanting photography projects that you’ve ever seen, featuring a bunch of extremely talented photographers from various parts of the globe.
These are sure to serve as inspiration for your next ethereal photo shoot!
Ellie Victoria Gale’s ‘The Flower Keepers’
Ellie Victoria Gale is a Fine Art and Portrait photographer based in West Yorkshire, United Kingdom. Nature serves as the primary source of inspiration in all of her work, I’m sure we can agree that this floral, fantasy-inspired project takes this notion above and beyond.
Titled ‘The Flower Keepers’, this particular project sees Ellie challenging herself to use everyday locations and turn them into something most magical. She further explains: “I focus my creativity on producing whimsical, feminine, floral images which lets the viewer immerse themselves into another world…Creating something out of nothing is one of the most magical aspects of photography. Colour plays a large part in my photographs, using rich, vivid colours to bring the scene to life.”
You can also find out more about Ellie’s work through her recent interview with Whim Online Magazine.
Daniela Majic’s ‘Secret Garden’
Daniela Majic is a very talented photographer based in Toronto, Canada. While you may even recognize her enchanting work from popular publications such as Vogue Italia, Coco Indie, and Material Girl (just to name a few), it’s her gorgeous project titled ‘Secret Garden’ that I wanted to focus on today.
Not only does the stunning body of work serve as a remedy for the photographer’s creativity block, but Daniela also went a step further, deciding that the conceptual series would also raise much-needed funds for children’s charities.
She explains in an interview: “The idea to raise money for children’s charities came to me while I was in the midst of my creative block…It really hit me when I realized that it was possible that I could create art and have it change the life of someone else. I wanted to find a way to merge what I loved doing with a way to give back.”
Since Daniela started her project, it has gone viral worldwide, appearing on CBS News and even being exhibited at the Louvre. Well-deserved indeed!
TJ Drysdale and Victoria Yore’s ‘Follow Me Away’
Photographer TJ Drysdale and his partner Victoria Yore have made quite the name for themselves with their latest project, ‘Follow Me Away’. The series takes place on their joint Instagram account, where they upload their breath-taking, travel-themed images – all with an otherworldly, fine art aesthetic.
TJ is a New York native, however when the professional portrait, fine art, and fashion photographer isn’t traveling the world with Victoria, he is based in Tampa, Florida. You can also read an interview with the pair to find out more about their globe-trotting, photography-inspired adventures.
Bella Kotak’s ‘Enchanted Worlds’
Bella Kotak is a fine art, fashion and portrait photographer currently based in Oxford and London, England. It isn’t hard to see why her work has taken the world by storm. From her fairytale inspired subjects to the incredibly magical landscapes she captures – Bella’s work is easily one of the most beautiful portfolios you’ll ever see.
Her bio further explains: “Inspired by fairytales, nature and strong feminine characters, Bella’s pictures lift the veil of the overlooked and reminds us that there’s magic in the most ordinary of spaces.”
It is one of her latest projects, ‘Enchanted Worlds’, that has really caught my attention. The series will instantly transport you to another realm – one filled with foreboding mist, winged creatures, mermaids, and subjects of breath-taking beauty.
Beth Mitchell’s Underwater Fine Art
Beth Mitchell is an underwater fine art photographer based in Brisbane, Australia. Her ‘Underwater’ series is especially enchanting, as we all know just how difficult it is to work in such a challenging environment but still be able to capture stunning images!
What is perhaps most beautiful is the way that Beth creates magical worlds beneath the water’s surface, proving just how talented she truly is. Vivid colors, glamorous attire, and oversized props all combine to produce amazing works of art.
You can even view a behind-the-scenes video of her shoots to see how it all comes together underwater.
There you have it – my pick of the most whimsical photography projects you’ll ever see! Which ones were your favorites? I hope these magical series have inspired you to take your work to a whole new level!
