Where the Leaves Fall is a magazine exploring humankind’s connection with nature. Each issue explores three themes with a photography competition around one of these themes.

The theme for the next issue is: KINSHIP

○ The brief is open for photographers to submit up to ten high resolution photographs (preferably jpg/jpeg) on this theme – either a single photo or a sequence of photographs in portrait and/or landscape format.

○ Although we invite an open interpretation of ‘kinship,’ it is important the photographs demonstrate an interaction between humankind and nature, and a respectful approach to the natural and social environment.

○ We also require that you submit some text on how your photo, or sequence of photographs, fits the theme and the circumstances in which the photograph was taken – please provide as much information as possible as this will be a part of the judging. Please reflect on the Photographers Without Borders’s code of ethics when approaching your subjects and detail any consideration within your application.

The deadline is midnight BST – 2 APRIL 2023. You can enter the competition here.

From the entries, five photographs will be shortlisted with the winning entrant receiving a £250 GBP prize. The winning photograph will also be printed in Where the Leaves Fall. If we like a set of images we will be in touch to discuss possibilities. Terms and conditions are below.
