Wet Plate
Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work for “wet plate” to A Smith Gallery by March 21, 2016. The collodion process or wet plate collodion, developed in about 1850, replaced the first reliable photographic process, the daguerreotype. The making of wet plate collodion images is a painstaking process that requires the photographer to prepare the medium, expose it and develop it in situ. Wet plate renders images as romantically spooky time travelers. Thirty images will be selected for exhibition and shown in the gallery’s “salon” from May 6 to July 3, 2016. Receptions will be held on May 28 and June 25, 2016 both from 4 to 7pm. A Blurb full color catalogue of the exhibit with all the accepted entries will be available for purchase. Awards are $325 for Juror’s Selection and three Director’s Selections each receiving an exhibition catalogue.
Juror for “wet plate” will be S Gayle Stevens.
