Vision 09 – Photo Contest

vision09A free to enter photographic and writing competition open to 16-25 year olds worldwide!

There are three categories:
Urban – 1st Prize £250, Portrait – 1st Prize £250, Photo Poetry – 1st Prize £500

The competition is open to anyone, anywhere in the world who is aged between
16 and 25 years of age at the closing date. Proof of age may be sought at progression to shortlisting.

Entry to the competition is free. You enter using the online submission system on this website. We regret that we CANNOT accept entries via email or post. You can enter any time from now until the closing date on September 25th 2009. Entries received after that date will not be accepted.

Images must be your own work and be unpublished (see technical information below for further guidelines). You can enter all three categories once only.
Content should be appropriate for general public viewing.

All entries MUST be written in English. We regret that entries in any language other than English cannot be accepted.

The judging panel is made up of professional photographers and representatives from our young photographers group. After the closing date all entries will go though the first round of judging and twenty entries from each category will be shortlisted. Shortlisted entrants will be contacted in October 2009 and asked to supply high quality digital images to go forward to the second round of judging which will take place in November 2009. First, second and third place winners for each category will then be chosen and selection made for the final exhibition.

First place in each category wins a cash prize as follows: Urban (£250) Portraits (£250) Photo Poetry (£500). (The prize money will include any base bank charges and transfer fees.) Second and third place winners will be selected but there are no cash prizes for these. However, both these and a further selection of images from those shortlisted will be exhausted.
Winning entries will be included on the Charnwood Arts Pixel & Grain

All images mut be original work. Copyright must belong to the person submitting the entry. Only previously unpublished work will be accepted. (By published we mean in a commercial or previous competition context. Work stored in open access online archives and photographic community sites is acceptable.)

Entries must not display copyright information or any other identifiables such as image watermarks. Tex may be included in the image in the Photo Poetry category only and must be legible for judges to read.

Only digital images submitted via our official website will be accepted.
Maximum of 800 pixels on the largest edge. We CANNOT accept entries via email or post.

The Photo Poetry Category may be accompanied a piece of text of no more than 250 words (there is no lower limit). Words should be entered on the notes section of the entry form. This category can be entered in partnership between a photographer and a poet though both individuals must be of relevant age and must abide by the rules of the competition.

Entries in all categories should be accompanied by a title.

By ticking the box on the entry form you are agreeing to abide by these rules of the competition.

The Judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into with regards to the results.

COPYRIGHT: All images must be original work. Copyright must belong to the person submitting the entry. Only previously unpublished work will be accepted. Copyright remains exclusively with the authors but, by entering this competition, you agree to allow your work as a shortlisted entry to be: a) shown at the Vision 09 exhibition in January / February 2010 b) be included in the winning entries on the Pixel and Grain website c) be showcased in any publications created by us to document the exhibition.
