Veolia Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2013
Wildlife Photographer of the Year harnesses the power of photography to promote the discovery, understanding, and responsible enjoyment of the natural world. Now in its 49th year, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition provides a global showcase of the very best nature photography. The competition is co-owned by two UK institutions that pride themselves on revealing and championing the diversity of life on Earth – the Natural History Museum and BBC Worldwide.

Contest Prize & TERMS
As part of the prize package, all awarded photographers will have their winning images: i) showcased in the Natural History Museum’s acclaimed exhibition and toured nationally and internationally ("the Exhibition") ii) published by the Natural History Museum within a limited edition hardcover Portfolio Book, which is also translated into a number of languages iii) published on the Natural History Museum website and be promoted through a variety of media which may include the website of the BBC Wildlife Magazine (the Competition’s magazine partner)
Category winners (excluding Special awards): £1000.00 in prize money, the full cost of a return economy flight or equivalent from their home address to attend the Gala Awards in London, two (2) complimentary tickets to the Gala Awards, a personalised certificate of recognition, a copy of the limited edition hardcover Portfolio Book
Special awards category winners: £1500.00 in prize money, EIZO monitor (specification TBC), the full cost of a return economy flight or equivalent from their home address to attend the Gala Awards in London, two (2) complimentary tickets to the Gala Awards, a personalised certificate of recognition, a copy of the limited edition hardcover Portfolio Book
Runner-ups: 50% of the cost of a return economy flight or equivalent from their home address to attend the Gala Awards in London, two (2) complimentary tickets for the Gala Awards, a personalised certificate of recognition, a copy of the limited edition hardcover Portfolio Book
Specially Commended: two (2) complimentary tickets to the Gala Awards in London, a personalised certificate of recognition, a copy of the limited edition hardcover Portfolio Book
Commended: two (2) complimentary tickets to the Gala Awards in London, a personalised certificate of recognition, a copy of the limited edition hardcover Portfolio Book
The Grand Title winner will receive: £10,000.00 in prize money, EIZO monitor (specification TBC), a unique and iconic trophy, a personalised certificate of recognition
A selection of awarded images will also be featured within a special edition Portfolio supplement and / or published within BBC Wildlife Magazine and may be included on the website of the BBC Wildlife Magazine. ELIGIBILITY: Open to All Not eligible to enter? - Find contest where you are.
COPYRIGHT: Each entry must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party.
Each entrant must either be the sole owner of the copyright or have secured the written permission of the copyright owner to enter the image into the Competition and grants the Owners the rights detailed below.
The copyright in all images submitted to the Competition will remain with the copyright holder who will be credited as follows: ©photographer’s name. USAGE RIGHTS: By entering the Competition, each entrant grants to the Owners a non-exclusive irrevocable licence to reproduce, publish and communicate to the public by any means and exhibit their awarded image(s) and copies of their awarded image(s) in all media throughout the world in relation to the Competition and the Exhibition including but not limited to all use in the context of:
i)Judging the Competition
ii)Display in the Gala Awards
iii)Display in the Exhibition
iiii)Inclusion in the Portfolio Book and Portfolio Magazine and/or similar
v)Inclusion in BBC Wildlife Magazine in relation to the Competition and/or Exhibition
vi)Inclusion within the Owner’s Websites, including within interactive elements associated with the Competition and/or Exhibition (now known or hereafter created) available for viewing or download from the Owners’ Websites
vii) Inclusion in promotional, press and marketing materials relating to the Competition and/or Exhibition
viii)Inclusion in merchandising associated with the Competition and/or the Exhibition
Awarded images may be used by the Owners for the purposes of the Competition and/or Exhibition from the date of notification of awarded images until the end of the Exhibition and thereafter the Owners may keep the awarded images within an archive (electronic or otherwise) provided that should the images be used in connection with the Competition and/or Exhibition after the period of five (5) years following the notification of awarded images, permission will be sought from the photographers.
