Times Young Photographer of the Year Award 2010

the times.gif (3 KB)The Times has launched the ninth Times Young Photographer of the Year Award. The competition, which for the second year running is sponsored by Canon, seeks to find the country’s best young photographer.

The winner will win a six-month full-time contract with The Times, where they will be trained in the skills of photojournalism.

The winner will be someone who can show flair and imagination – whose work is visually exciting. Entrants will need to submit photographs in three different categories:

a. Lifestyle

b. Portraiture

c. Reportage

It’s up to you to interpret those different subjects and send us three images – one image for each category – that you think will make the judges sit up and pay attention. Don’t try to be too clever: if you need to explain your picture in a lengthy caption then the picture isn’t working. A powerful picture needs no explanation – it speaks for itself.
