The Lens on Development photo contest
According to the World Food Programme, more than 1 billion people worldwide suffer from hunger and malnutrition, with the vast majority (98%) living in developing countries. We invite you to submit your photo to the contest and participate in raising awareness of the challenges the developing countries are facing.
The Contest also aims at broadening social awareness of the Millenium Development Goals and the issue of global development, as well as understanding its complexity.
The subject matter of the Contest are the development challenges of poor countries and of countries undergoing political transformation. The Works submitted to the Contest should present the daily life, culture and problems of the inhabitants of the developing countries.
The Contest is divided into four categories:
Water – the source of life and health
Education and entrepreneurship – the key to a better life
The influence of the natural environment on human life
Photo essay – concerning one of the Contest categories above.
Contest Prize & TERMS
I prize in each of the 4 categories of 1 000 EUR gross value;
II prize in each of the 4 categories of 500 EUR gross value;
Internauts’ prize in each of the 4 categories of 400 EUR gross value.
The prizewinner of the Grand Prix Contest and the I prizewinners of the four Contest categories shall be invited to the Ceremony in Warsaw. The costs of transportation and accommodation in Warsaw of the five prizewinners shall be covered by the Executor, who will also manage all the reservations. ELIGIBILITY: EU citizen's who has all citizen rights and capacity. Not eligible to enter? - Find contest where you are.
COPYRIGHT: By entering the Contest on the terms specified in the Regulations, each Entrant of the Contest states that he/she owns full copyright to the submitted works and that all the persons displayed in the photo have agreed to their public exposition. The transfer of property rights shall take place immediately after the announcement of the results of the Contest, by each prizewinner signing an agreement concerning the transfer of property rights, which constitutes the attachment nr 1 to the present Regulations. The prizewinner is not entitled to any other reward for transferring the property rights, besides the Prize. USAGE RIGHTS: When awarded a prize in the Contest, the Entrant agrees to:
multiple, gratuitous publication of the awarded works (with sublicense rights), with no territorial limits, as well publicising his/her name, surname, place of residence in promotional materials related to the Contest and the photography exhibition presented at the European Development Days, on websites www.photo2011.eu, www.msz.gov.pl, www.polskapomoc.gov.pl, www.eudevdays.eu, www.ec.europa.eu, as well as in publishing houses, promotional and informational materials, as well as other materials and documents related to the activity of the Organizer or any entities cooperating with him.
using Contest works for promotional and marketing means of the Organizer, especially to the preservation and multiplication of the Contest works by all kinds of techniques, e.g. printing, reprographic, magnetic storage, digital, audiovisual on any carriers, with no quantitative and qualitative limits, as well as publicizing the works in public displays, allowing every person to have access to the work at any time and place, especially in computer networks, Internet and on TV.
