The British Heart Foundation: Red for Heart photo contest

logo Back by popular demand, the second annual Red for Heart Photography competition is now open. There are lots of fantastic prizes to be won and images will be showcased as part of February’s National Heart Month and our 2011 50th Birthday celebrations.

The theme for the competition is Red for Heart. The only rule is the colour red must be incorporated into your photo.

You don’t necessarily have to feature hearts, but think about heart as a theme and what that means to you. As we are celebrating our 50th birthday in 2011 the picture could capture an element of celebration. Beyond this, the brief is open to interpretation and we encourage creativity.

Entrants must submit their photo(s) into one of the two categories below;

– Adults (Aged 16 and over)

– Students

A selection of the winning photographs will feature in the Independent on Sunday newspaper to launch National Heart Month in February 2011.

And that’s not all! One winner and one runner up from each category will win a range of fantastic prizes including a Canon EOS 60D Digital SLR camera kindly donated by Warehouse Express. Plus money can’t buy prizes including a day shadowing a Getty Images photographer for the winner of the student category.

The image judged to be the best in the adult category will win a unique opportunity for a one to one master class with award winning photographer John Angerson.

The image judged to be the best in the student category will win a once in a lifetime opportunity for a one-day photoshoot shadowing award-winning Getty Images photographer, Chris Ryan.

Chris has worked with a range of advertising agencies and renowned commercial and corporate clients. He has also taken portraits of many well-known figures including Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, David Cameron, Prince William and Prince Harry.
