South Downs National Park Photo Contest 2014 Snap up great prizes in the South Downs National Park Photo Contest 2014. Top prizes are on offer for photographers who share their favourite South Downs secrets with us in the National Park’s ‘Hidden Gems’ photo competition this summer. The South Downs is full of countless hidden gems waiting to be discovered so we’re hoping to see amazing photos that entice people to look beyond the National Park’s more obvious attractions. Can you capture the subtle charms of quiet valleys where others rarely tread, the secret meadows and hidden pub gardens.

Your image must be taken within the official boundaries of the South Downs National Park. Your entry details must specify where the image was taken.

The South Downs National Park uniquely combines a biodiverse landscape with bustling towns and villages, covers an area of over 1,600 km2 and is home to more than 110,400 people.

Recognised as an area of outstanding beauty, the South Downs is also home to a multitude of vibrant working communities steeped in history and traditional English culture, from the ancient cathedral city of Winchester in the west to the bustling market town of Lewes in the east.

Here you can walk, cycle or horse ride along the South Downs Way, enjoy traditional ales in an English country pub, visit arts and crafts festivals at Winchester, Brighton and Arundel, and watch spectacular performances at the world famous Glyndebourne.
