2012 Folio submission guidelines – 5th Folio Annual. The Silvershotz 2012 Folio annual journal is a collection of folios featuring contemporary emerging photographic artists, carefully selected by a jury panel of industry experts. Previous successful folio participants have been offered solo exhibitions, book and magazine publishing opportunities and sold more work to collectors.

SUBJECT MATERIAL
Subjects can be as varied as abstract, still life, landscape, figure work, portraits, photo documentary, social commentary and experimental work.

Please note that nude figure work is accepted but due to censorship laws in some countries avoid full frontal nudes as they will automatically be disqualified.

The images can be presented as black & white, sepia, hand coloured or colour

The image capture device can be as varied as film, memory card, paper negatives, scanners, sensitized materials, lens less photography or even a wacom tablet.

MARKETING
The Silvershotz Annual Folio journal has a 10,000 print run, 8,000 are distributed in 1400 bookstores in 17 countries. A further 2,000 are mailed free of charge to galleries, libraries, collectors and institutions in 19 countries. The 2012 Folio is also provided as a gift to all subscribers on the website and itunes store.

Photographer’s websites are linked from the Silvershotz website and a PDF is supplied for their own marketing efforts. There is a marketing fee to cover design, layout, editing, proofing and promotion. If you are selected by the jury panel you must be in a position to pay the marketing fee of USD$990.00 or £595.00.

Scholarships are available for economically disadvantaged artists, students, retirees and others in any country in the world. Please ensure you state the reasons on your application as to why you should receive a scholarship.
