Portraits: A Moment Can Tell the Story of a Life
The portrait. Environmental, studio, candid, or posed. Self or pet, color, black-and-white, alternative process or iPhone. No matter what the genre, there’s a power in a well-captured portrait, a sense of breath and life. A portrait can comfort us, unnerve us, cause us to smile, or move us to tears. Whatever the emotional response, portraits possess the capacity to connect us all through shared encounters.
This contest by Santa Fe Photographic Workshops is an opportunity to pause and review your photography, then join an international community of photographers and share your portraits with distinguished judges—PDN’s Amber Terranova, gallery owner Andrew Smith, photographer Aline Smithson, and Workshops director Reid Callanan. The winning images will be featured on Aline Smithson’s Lenscratch blogzine, and the prizes are great. The Grand Prize alone is worth over $5,000!
