Picture This: We Can End Poverty photo contest
Picture This: We Can End Poverty is a global photo contest organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with Olympus Corporation, The Agence France-Presse (AFP) Foundation and the UN’s Department of Information(DPI). It seeks to show— in a positive way— what people around the world are doing to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), eight goals agreed on by world leaders to halve extreme poverty by 2015. DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 25TH JULY 2010
The eight Goals are:
1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
2. Achieve universal primary education
3. Promote gender equality and empower women
4. Reduce child mortality
5. Improve maternal health
6. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases
7. Ensure environmental sustainability
8. Develop a Global Partnership for Development
The 2010 contest will include a People’s Choice Award where the public will vote for their favourite photo online through the Picture This website: picturethis.undp.org
Contest Prize & TERMS
COPYRIGHT: All contestants must agree to release the rights to photos submitted for the contest to UNDP and its affiliates for unrestricted and unlimited worldwide usage and distribution free of charge in various media. UNDP will allow Olympus and the AFP Foundation to use these photos on their websites and other media to promote the work of the photographers.
