PhotoVoice is the only UK-based charity that works across the world using photography for social change.

Our innovative and award-winning projects have addressed issues as diverse as climate change, political engagement, women’s rights, refugees, HIV, disability, sexual exploitation and much more. We work with communities to help them capture and share their situation through photography, believing in a world where everybody has the right to represent themselves and tell their own story.

We are delighted to announce a new partnership with Professional Photography magazine. Each issue, we will be announcing a new competition, with the theme inspired by PhotoVoice’s projects.

Entrants will be invited to submit either a single photograph or a series of images (maximum 6). The winner will have their images featured in the pages of Professional Photography, in our quarterly publication Photo Voices, and on PhotoVoice’s website.

In 2008, PhotoVoice worked with 15 young refugees from all over the world who had made London their home. Their stories and images provided a powerful insight into the experiences of refugees who had been forced to leave their homes. To commemorate the UN’s International Day of Tolerance on 16th November, we are inviting submissions based on the theme of ‘modern society’. inspired by a photograph by Tatiana Correia, of her citizenship ceremony. In all genres of photography, we want to see images that express your understanding of what a modern society is or should be.
