Photosensitive Photo Contest

one constant c logo This first biennial photography open submission to be held at One Church Street will endeavour to fulfill the Gallery’s stated aims to stimulate the debate surrounding the contemporary arts. Consequently, we shall look for and encourage entries that investigate the broadest possible interpretation of what photography can be. In so doing we shall strive to promote the appreciation of photography and to discover emerging talent as well as show the works of more established artists.

Selected photographs from this exhibition will be displayed in a high-quality, full-colour book to be kept in the gallery. Copyright for these images stays with the artist and only with permission will be used.

The exhibition of selected work, which results from this open submission, will be shown from Friday May 6th until Saturday 4th June 2011.

From the selected works, two artists will be awarded a joint show at the Gallery in May 2012.

There will also be an on-line exhibition and a Visitor Vote Award. A poll will take place both in the Gallery and on-line.

The Selection Panel will comprise:

Anne Eggebert – senior lecturer in BA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, UAL. Her work has been presented at the British Library, Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge, Tate St Ives, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney, and Haus am Lutzowplatz, Berlin.

Leah Gordon – photographer, film-maker and curator. In 2006 she commissioned the Grand Rue Sculptors from Haiti to make ‘Freedom Sculpture’, a permanent exhibit for the International Museum of Slavery in Liverpool. Her photography book ‘Kanaval: Vodou, Politics and Revolution on the Streets of Haiti’ was published in June 2010. Gordon is represented by Riflemaker Gallery.

Polly Gould – artist and writer whose work engages broadly with photographic practices. She has lectured in BA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins and Wimbledon School of Art and her work has been shown widely in the UK and abroad, including Danielle Arnaud Gallery, London, ASCA Amsterdam, and ICIA Bath;

Lyndsey Keeling – arts director and curator of One Church Street Gallery.

Registration for this event costs £15.00 for which you may submit up to 4 images on disc.
