N.Y. Photo Curator Call for Entry- ‘The Unexpected’

N.Y. Photo Curator Call for Entry- ‘The Unexpected’ curated by Ellen Jantzen.
(Image-Maker awarded “Special Photographer of The Year” 2017 International Photography Awards, 1st place 2017 International Photography Awards, Digitally Enhanced Category, one of 15 women photographers chosen to receive the Julia Margaret Cameron Award 2016, awarded First Place (Fine Art, Special Effects Category) in the Moscow International Foto Awards, 2016 and First Prize, Fine Art in the prestigious PX3, Prix de la Photographie Paris for her series “Transplanting Reality; Transcending Nature”.

THEME: The Unexpected

Ellen Jantzen says, “I look for themes that are exploring the realm of memory (how it impacts the present and future), states of reality (what is real and unreal) and loss.
As these are fundamentally non-visual, I will be looking for work that approaches the subjects in unexpected visual ways.

Some say, all time exists at once; the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future are regarded as a whole. As I am vastly interested in reality, this cohesion is mesmerizing to me.

When I work, I usually start with a basic concept in mind and take many photos that intend to support that idea. I always take more photographs than I may need in order to allow for surprises and unexpected occurrences. Once back at my computer I begin my work by sorting through my images and selecting the ones that seem supportive of my original idea. In many instances my original idea is revised or replaced by another that comes to light through exposure to surprises.”

20% of artist fees go to charity. 10% to the curator’s charity and 10% to the first place winner’s charity.
