AIA Mississippi is pleased to issue an open call for photographic submissions of Mississippi’s Modern Architecture, open to professional and amateur photographers. Selected prints will be exhibited at the Municipal Art Gallery located at 839 North State Street in Jackson from March 31 through April 30, 2011.

All submissions shall be in electronic format and must be of modern architecture located within the state of Mississippi. Photographs may be recently taken or may be submitted from the photographer’s archive collection. Photographs of structures that have been demolished are not acceptable.

A list of modern buildings suggested by AIA members as examples of Modern Architecture is located on the AIA website  for use by photographers in understanding Modern Architecture. Youmay also wish to view an “Introduction to Modern Architecture” which is also posted on the AIA website. We hope you find this information useful, however, artist are not limited to photographing the buildings listed. A photograph of any “Modern Building” within the State of Mississippi is eligible. Images may include the entire building or building details.

Exhibited photographs will be judged by a Special Select Panel of AIA Architects, Educators, and Professional
Photographers. The winning entries will be prominently identified at the Exhibit.
