Themed “Inspiring Asia”, this year Maybank Photography Awards is looking for the best photographers in Southeast Asia. Featuring renowned judges like Ming Thein, Raghu Rai, Mike Yamashita, Jim Liaw and Manny Librodo, this is your chance to have your work judged by some of the best photographers in the world. So from 1 August till 31 October 2013, submit your work for the opportunity to win USD35,000 worth of prizes and the coveted title of Maybank’s Photographer of the Year.

Culture & Heritage: An inheritance that we all receive, our culture and our heritage truly moves and moulds every individual to be the unique being that he or she is. The culture and heritage category focuses on the distinctive histories as well as the undying traditions of each others upbringings – our key to understanding, accepting and truly loving one another.

Portraits: Asia is made of its people, and it’s the people that make Asia truly beautiful. The portrait category focuses on the expressions and identity of the individual or collective human race. While portraiture typically focuses on the face, emotions and stories can be shown in other ways as well.

Streets: Daily life happens all around us, and what may seem like a common moment may be the subject for a photographer. Street photography documents daily life as it happens, and is not confined the streets of the city. It is let loose wherever humans may work, play or rest.

Press:Whether news as it happens or tales of the aftermath, the press photographers are the story tellers of our generation. The press category is only open to members of the press and as such, evidence of your press credentials is a requirement for entrance.

Nature: It is Earth that houses us, and it is nature that gives her life. The nature category can be interpreted in as many ways as there are birds in the sky. Celebrate the spellbinding landscapes that stretch past the horizon, as well as the creatures and creations that fill this world with abundant life.

People’s Choice: It is the right of the public to voice their thoughts, so vote right here on the website to choose your favourite photographs and give them a chance to win the People’s Choice Award!
Will be awarded twice monthly to the Top 2 most voted photographs for the whole campaign duration.

Photographer of the Year: Awarded to the photographer with the strongest portfolio of work, the Photographer of the Year award will be chosen based on each photographer’s passion to produce photographs of consistently high quality. Only finalists in more than one category or winners of at least one category will be chosen.
