Marie Claire international photography prize

marieclaire Because women are the heart and soul of our magazine, Because we have always worked with the biggest names in Photographic Reportage, Marie Claire launches the Marie Claire International Photography Award.

To give the work of professional photographers, the recognition they deserve, this Award will, with the support of our international editions, reward the best photo reports about women.

Our international jury will select 10 finalists including one Award Winner, who will receive 5 000€ and a a Nikon D800 D-SLR.

The Award Winner’s reportage will be published in Marie Claire France and in several Marie Claire International editions. And to salute all of the 10 shortlisted participants, an exhibition of their work made in partnership with Artelier Vikart will be held in Paris. The reportage submitted by each participant must compulsorily be a photographic reportage devoted to women (other than any “fashion series”)

Contest Prize & TERMS

PRIZE DETAILS: The Overall Winner : five thousand (€5,000) for the 1st Edition, professional photographic equipment, publication of their reportage with Marie Claire France and certain international editions of Marie Claire

The Overall Winner as well as the ten finalists shall have their reportage: 1) published in the catalogue of Prize exhibition and on the Prize website

2) exhibited: in the course of an exhibition devoted to the Prize, an exhibition that will take place in Paris and which may be toured to other counties in which Marie Claire is published, for a period of one year. COPYRIGHT: No Copyright Policy USAGE RIGHTS: By taking part in the Prize, all participants authorise Marie Claire and its international editions:

Internet distribution: to adapt their reportages and have them adapted to technical and/or editorial requirements, for the purposes of distributing their reportages on the Prize website, and its international versions. This authorisation being granted to the Organising Company and to its international editions free of charge renounce the receipt of any income for this on any basis whatsoever);

Distribution in the magazines: possibly to publish their reportages in different editions of the Marie Claire magazine (France and international) subject to remuneration, with the exception of the Overall Winner, to whom the conditions set out in article 7 apply;

This authorisation is granted to the Organising Company and to its editions, in a non exclusive manner, world-wide, and for a duration of 1 year from the publication of the results in Marie Claire France. The Organising Company remains free to use or not to use all or part of the reportages in the manner it wishes to.

By participating in the Prize, the participants nominated as finalists authorise Marie Claire and its international editions to: reproduce, have reproduced, manufacture, have manufactured, and have distributed their reportages in any medium whatsoever and by any technical procedure, represent, have represented, distribute or have distributed and more generally communicate or have communicated to the public, their reportages by all known means or for access in particular on the Marie Claire and Prize websites, show their reportages at planned exhibitions and presenting the reportages of the ten (10) finalists in the Prize. Publish their reportages in different editions of the magazine Marie Claire (France and international) subject to remuneration in accordance with the tariff in force in the international editions of Marie-Claire. Adapt and have adapted their reportages to technical and/or editorial requirements, for the purposes of:
- Publishing their reportages in Marie Claire France and the international editions of Marie Claire.
- Distributing their reportages on the Marie Claire France website and its other versions regardless of mode of accessibility.
- Distributing their reportages on the website of the international editions of Marie Claire and its versions regardless of mode accessibility.
- Distributing their reportages on the Prize website.
This authorisation is granted to the Organising Company and to its international editions in accordance with article 7 below, world-wide, and for a duration of 1 year from the date of publication of the results in Marie Claire France, and the Organising Company remains free to use or not to use all or part of the reportages according to the methods of its choosing.

At the end of this period, the ten finalists authorise the Organising Company to retain the selected reportages for the purposes of archiving, and for the promotion of the said Prize. It is specified that the Organising Company cannot be declared responsible for the use made of the reportages by individuals who have saved them when distributed by Marie Claire on its websites.

A – The Overall Winner undertakes, upon being nominated: - to give exclusivity in the rights of use of their reportage to the editions of Marie Claire (France & international) for a period of one year from the publication of the issue of Marie-Claire France in which the lists of finalists is published;
- not to exhibit their reportage other than in the exhibitions organised by Marie Claire and its international editions and for a duration of one year from the publication of the issue of Marie-Claire France in which the lists of finalists is published;
- not to publish their reportage, in any medium whatsoever, for a duration of one year from the publication of the issue of Marie-Claire France in which the lists of finalists is published;

B – The 9 other finalists undertake, from the publication of the results: (a) to give a right of first option for the publication of their reportage in the editions of Marie Claire (France & international) for a period of one (1) year from the publication of the Marie Claire France issue in which the list of finalists was published. The finalist must, for this purpose, inform the Editorial Director of Marie-Claire International, indicating the country. This information will trigger a period of 2 months, during which the Editorial Director of Marie-Claire International must respond to the finalist concerning the possible publication of their reportage in Marie-Claire. If there is no response beyond this period, finalist shall be free to publish their reportage in another magazine.
(b) to give exclusivity in the exhibition rights of their reportage to the Marie Claire editions (France & international) for a period of one year from the date on which they were informed that they were finalists;

During the period of exclusivity referred to in paragraphs A and B(b) of this present article, the ten finalists may however request the written agreement of the Organising Company for any use they may wish to establish (publication of a collection, another exhibition, etc…). The Organising Company reserves the right whether or not to give its agreement when requested
