LWEC Photo Competition

LWEC Photo Competition Could your photographic prowess be put in service of the UK’s need to protect vulnerable people from climate impacts? Enter the LWEC Photo Competition and help to powerfully illustrate scientific information LWEC produces for government, agencies and services across the UK.

Its latest project is a climate change impact report card which will focus on health. The first in the series of such cards focused on Biodiversity. It appeared on Channel Four News and has been downloaded, read and used by thousands of people and organisations.

The Health Climate Change Impacts Report Card needs to be as attractive as the Biodiversity Card (see .) but very few images exist to bring the card to life. LWEC is therefore running a photographic competition to generate a pool of images to help publicly funded scientists put across vital information for people and services in the Health Sector.

10. Long term impacts on human populations (ecosystem services, food production, sea level rise etc.)

About Living With Environmental Change:

The LWEC Partnership: 22 public sector organisations that fund, carry out and use environmental research and observations. They include the UK research councils, government departments with environmental responsibilities, devolved administrations and government agencies. The private sector is represented by a Business Advisory Board.

LWEC Purpose: To ensure that decision makers in government, business and society have the knowledge, foresight and tools to mitigate, adapt to and benefit from environmental change.

LWEC Funding: LWEC does not have a budget for funding research. Member organisations who have their own budgets pay an annual subscription and/or contribute staff resources to run a small secretariat and/ or contribute to common needs such as a database (Envirobase) of all the research they fund.

LWEC Governance: The Partnership’s governance structure consists of a Partners Forum which meets twice a year and an Executive Management Committee which meets more regularly (see separate pages below). A Business Advisory Board Board provides input on behalf of the business community.
