London Festival of Photography Prize
Win a trip to London, £2000 in cash prizes and be featured in a world-class exhibition in central London in June as part of the festival.
The London Festival of Photography Prize is an opportunity for photographers to submit projects for inclusion in a world-class exhibition celebrating the annual festival theme. Each year the festival will explore a relevant and far-reaching theme through photographic exhibitions, workshops, participatory activities and debates.
This prestigious prize will achieve critical acclaim for the chosen winners. Every entry will be seen by a judging panel of internationally renowned experts. The Street Photography Awards exhibition run by the festival in 2011 was seen by 6,000 visitors and the winners and finalists have had their images published worldwide. The exhibition sat alongside the festival’s Vivian Maier exhibition, listed by the Observer and Culture as one of 2011’s top 10 photography shows in the UK.
There are two options for submission:
• the photo-series category (still images only) and
• the photo-film category (multimedia)

Deadline: Thursday 29 March 2012, 11.59pm BST (London, UK time)
Exhibition dates: 1-17 June 2012
Exhibition Venue: Dog Eared Gallery, Central London
The emphasis of the prize is on visual storytelling. Projects must work together as a whole and include some sort of narrative structure. We are not looking for single images or fashion/advertising/studio work.
Two winners, one for each category, will be flown to London for the exhibition and festival opening and each presented with a cheque for £1,000.
See your work in front of the most influential people in the UK photography industry (curators, gallerists, commissioners, collectors, journalists, publishers, agents) and mingle with fellow photographers and artists at your very own launch party!
Contest Prize & TERMS
The first prize winner of each category will receive:
• £1,000 cash
• An all-expenses paid trip to London for the exhibition launch and awards ceremony to the value of £1,000
• Major showcase of his/her work in a high-profile exhibition in central London during the 2012 festival
• Personalised feedback and advice from two of members of the judging panel, plus an online advice session with Duckrabbit
• Inclusion in prize winners catalogue
• National and international press campaign
RUNNERS UP:
Five runners up in each category will receive:
• Inclusion of their work in a high-profile exhibition in central London during the 2012 festival
• Thames and Hudson photo books
• Inclusion in prize winners catalogue
All entrants will receive up to £80 in vouchers and discounts including a £28.95 voucher to print their own photo book from Blurb.com, 20% off membership to the Royal Photographic Society and up to £30 off subscription (UK only) to the British Journal of Photography. COPYRIGHT: Copyright of the photos/films remains with the photographer – Shoot Experience/London Festival of Photography recognises that the entrant, the author of the photograph, retains complete and full ownership of the copyright in each submission. USAGE RIGHTS: Entrants are asked to accept that any image submitted to the Prize may be used by Shoot Experience/London Festival of Photography to enable the delivery of Prize through the London Festival of Photography and for future publicity and marketing purposes for up to five years.
The entrant hereby grants Shoot Experience/LFPH a non-exclusive, irrevocable license in each submission throughout the world for five years in all media for any use connected to the promotion of the Prize and the festival, but not limited to:
(a) judging the Prize,
(b) public exhibitions promoting the Prize and Shoot Experience/LFPH,
(c) inclusion within any materials promoting the Prize, Shoot Experience/LFPH or any exhibition organised by Shoot Experience/LFPH, in the promotion of Shoot Experience/LFP, but not limited to: the Website, a book, magazine or publication,
(d) inclusion on Shoot Experience/LFPH related products (i.e. a prize winners catalogue) to be sold by Shoot Experience/LFPH or any third party (i.e. Blurb.com) following an individual agreement by the Author("You"),
(e) sub-licensing the Entries to the press for reproduction in connection with the Prize and any exhibition,
(f) allowing viewers of the Website to view images on a computer screen, mobile devices and store such pages in electronic form on disk or mobile device for their personal, non-commercial use only.
