Landscape Looking at Photography

Landscape Looking at Photography Landscape photography is the depiction of natural scenery, such as mountains, valleys, trees, rivers and forests. Dynamic and impressive compositions of sky, weather, light, land, textures, tones, patterns and atmospheres. This show will examine contemporary photography and the wild power, beauty and the evolving mystery of the natural world.

Juror: Todd Tubutis

Todd J. Tubutis became Executive Director of Blue Sky in October 2009. He joined the organization from his position as Exhibition Project Director at The Field Museum in Chicago, Illinois, for which he oversaw the Museum’s temporary exhibition calendar and project management staff. During his tenure at the Field, he led the design and institutional strategy teams for more than 20 temporary and permanent exhibitions of varied scope and subject matter, including “Jacqueline Kennedy: The White House Years–Selections from the John F. Kennedy Library,” “Maps: Finding Our Place in the World,” “From Prairie to Field: Photographs by Terry Evans,” and “Evolving Planet.” Prior to joining the Field in 2001, Tubutis was responsible for the development and administration of an adult-education seminars program at The Newberry Library, Chicago. He has taught and conducted research in cultural and visual anthropology in the U.S., Canada, and Hungary, and has contributed articles and reviews to Wisconsin Academy Review, Visual Anthropology, Exhibitionist, Time Out Chicago, and The Encyclopedia of Chicago (University of Chicago Press, 2004). He holds a M.A. in Anthropology from the University of British Columbia, for which examined Native American participation in Jim Jarmsuch’s 1996 feature film “Dead Man” for his thesis. A native of the Chicago metropolitan area, Tubutis received his B.A. in Anthropology and Museum Studies from Beloit College, Wisconsin, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with departmental honors.

Black Box offers free framing, matting and printing for our exhibitions. The photographers who are selected into the exhibition by the juror will provide a high resolution Tiff or JPEG file for our gallery to print. If the photographer prefers, they can send in framed work or prints that we can frame for the exhibition.

Contest Prize & TERMS

PRIZE DETAILS: Each exhibition will have 24 photographs included by the juror for exhibition at the gallery.

An additional 30 photographs will be selected for inclusion in our On-Line Gallery Annex. ELIGIBILITY: Open to All

COPYRIGHT: All rights to the photographs remain with the photographer. USAGE RIGHTS: All exhibition prints will be kept in a flat file after the show for future sale and promotion for the photographer, unless the photographer makes other arrangements. This will allow the gallery to further promote our photographers and exhibitions to collectors, curators, critics and to the general public. Black Box will return ship the exhibiton print to artist if preferred.
