Sound is an integral part of how we experience the world around us. An orchestral crescendo, a child’s laughter, a chorus of singing birds or even a blissful silence – the essence of a moment is often dictated by the noises we hear.

To enter the contest, simply send in your photo that best represent a joy of sound. The finalists’ images will be considered the most original, visually appealing and self-explanatory – capturing the joy that our sense of sound can bring.

The winning image will be selected by a panel of judges from the Hear the World initiative and Digital SLR Photography Magazine with all entries open to public vote in the gallery. At the end of the competition, the nine images with the most votes will receive runner up prizes and a selection will appear alongside the winner in Digital SLR Photography Magazine.
