Great in Britain Photo Contest

giblogosmall Great in Britain’ is this nations first photographic archive of Britain at work. It invites the nation to submit stories and pictures of those that live and work around them, images that capture and document the real life of people in our communities as they stand today.

“Our aim is for Great in Britain to become a comprehensive insight into the British at work, a visual time capsule that that proves a true reflection of work practices in this country. We want to record, catalogue, archive those working heroes that make this country great. Our hope is that this will prove an inspirational, as well as an informative legacy for present and future generations.”

Entries are welcome from around the world, but all images entered must have been captured in Britain since the beginning of 2010


Contest Prize & TERMS

PRIZE DETAILS: A functional Barbour Bedale jacket - a traditional Thornproof wax jacket in iconic Barbour style will be awarded to the winning image each month. ELIGIBILITY: Worldwide / 18+ or have permission from parent/ guardian. Not eligible to enter? - Find contest where you are.

COPYRIGHT: All submitted work remains the intellectual property of the artist. USAGE RIGHTS: Following the project deadline, all the work shall be viewable on the dedicated website for as long as the panel deems this appropriate. Images supplied by participants can be used globally to promote the Great in Britain initiative in any media format, including but not limited to, retail point-of-sale material, promotional events and publishing. Credit will be duly applied to the submitting photographer.

Once submitted non-exclusive usage rights are assigned to Barbour and Great in Britain for twenty four months. After this period, in order to support the ongoing photographic archive resource, the submitted work is non-exclusively licensed to Great in Britain for any related promotion of the archive across any global media on a royalty free basis, without restriction in time.

Where commercial gain arises, the photographer will be unable to sell image rights to a Barbour competitor. In all other instances the photographer has the right to gain commercially from their work if such an occasion should arise.
