Great British Insect Photography Competition
We launched our first Photography Competition during National Insect Week 2006 and had a superb response from amateur photographers in the UK and around the world. Our second and third Competitions in NIW2008 and NIW2010 continued to attract many excellent entries, from photographic novices and experienced amateurs alike, and from those who had never looked closely at insects before as well as from those who study them regularly as part of their work or hobby interests.
To celebrate National Insect Week 2012 (25 June – 1 July) we are once more organising this popular Insect Photography Competition, kindly sponsored by Olympus and the Royal Entomological Society, with the Riverfly Partnership again generously sponsoring an additional Riverfly Competition. For NIW2012, the overall Competition theme for all entries is ‘Great British Insects’.
Contest Prize & TERMS
2nd Prize (18-or-over Category) £250 Olympus photographic equipment
1st Prize (under-18 Category): Olympus SH-25MR digital camera plus a cash prize of £300, and published in the Royal Entomological Society’s bulletin Antenna.
2nd Prize (under-18 Category): Olympus VR-340 digital camera plus a cash prize of £150.
1st Prize (Great British Riverfly Competition) cash prize of £500, and published in the Royal Entomological Society’s bulletin Antenna.
2nd Prize: cash prize of £250.
The Riverfly Competition judges may also award commendations to runners-up.
The editors of the Royal Entomological Society’s bulletin Antenna may publish other prize-winning or commended images in addition to those of the 1st Prize-Winner ELIGIBILITY: UK / Amateur Not eligible to enter? - Find contest where you are.
