The International Photography contest of the North and Arctic pictures.For the first time in Russia the project is supported by the accreditation of the international photographic associations: FIAP, PSA, UPI.

The contestants works will represent the beautiful variety of the North nature and wildlife, depict the peculiarities of the “icy” world of the Arctic, and narrate unforgettable photo stories about the culture, life and centuries-old customs of the North minorities . Through the prism of photographic lenses the coldest, deeply frozen Earth regions, covered with ice and snow, will appear in a new perspective.

The «Global Arctic Awards- 2012» organizers will submit the entrants colour images to jury and spectators for approval in 8 nominations

Special nomination: “National Geographic choice”

-Portraits of northern inhabitants

-Northern civilization

To conquer the cold Arctic “heart” is a great challenge. But nothing is impossible for those truly in love with northern territories….

The best prints will be determined by the jury, which will include the Russian and the world known professionals such as Sergey Mayorov, Nils-Erik Jerlemar, Chris Hinterobermaier, Mikhail Bondar, Chris Coe, Bryan Alexander, Mike Reyfman, Sergey Frolov , Sergey Lidov and Sergey Anisimov.

The exhibition will take place in February, 2013. You are welcome to admire them in the Arctic and Antarctic Museum of Saint-Petersburg.

At the end of the competition the catalogue, including the works of the winners and the most captivating images will be issued.
