FRESH EYES celebrates the best photography talent in Europe. It is a guide book presenting the 100 greatest emerging photographers the continent has to offer. The second edition, FRESH EYES 2020, will be launched in June. Powered by GUP Magazine, FRESH EYES brings talent to the attention of galleries, museums, commercial and photography agencies, media companies and institutions that work with imagery. GUP Magazine (Guide to Unique Photography) is an international publication on photography, connecting its communities with the sharpest conceptual photography, the latest photobooks and events, and compelling writings about the contemporary world of photography. GUP has focused on the most exciting developments and emerging talents in photography since 2005.

What we offer you
• A spot (4 pages) in FRESH EYES, a guide book powered by GUP magazine and internationally distributed by Idea Books;
• 3 Copies of the book;
• 5 Talents will be selected to participate in Haute Photographie (Amsterdam, September 17-20 2020) being presented as Haute Talents. They will see their work produced and exhibited during one of the most interesting photography events of the year in The Netherlands.
• A book mailing to many relevant people and organisations in the photo world, from art galleries, curators, magazines and newspapers to the best creative and photo agencies;
• Promotion through FRESH EYES platforms (website and social media);
• A possibility to be part of GUP network, which includes platforms such as GUP Online, Kahmann Gallery, Haute Photographie, etc;
• The possibility to have your work shown in international festivals/fair presented as GUP – FRESH EYES talent;
• The possibility to be selected for the GUP EDITORIAL AWARD and have your work published by GUP Magazine;
• Having your work seen by the jury of GUP – FRESH EYES, consisting of respected professionals in the photo industry. The jury are:

Book launch
The book launch will happen in June 2020 during Photo Basel (June 16-21).

How it works
All emerging photographers born or based anywhere in Europe are welcome to apply. After the deadline a jury of specialists consisting of GUP editors, gallerists and photographers will go through all applications and select the 100 best. If you are amongst the selected 100 photographers to be featured as a FRESH talent, we will grant you 4 pages in the book. However, publishing a book isn’t free. We therefore have to ask you to contribute to the costs. The rate for every selected participant is 300 euro (excl. VAT).

Why apply?
We know how difficult it can be for a beginning photographer to make it. The gap between the art academy and the real world can be wide. The competition is strong. FRESH EYES put its network to help you in being noticed.

Terms & conditions
By agreeing to the terms and conditions for the FRESH EYES 2020 call you acknowledge that:

You are an emerging photographer either born or based in Europe;
You graduated in 2016 or after, or have been working as an autodidact photographer for no more than 3 years;
You are the author of the material submitted;

In case of selection you agree FRESH EYES and GUP Magazine have the right to use your work for promotional and editorial purposes. Any images used will include credits. Usage includes all media worldwide.

Submission requirements
A low-res portfolio of 15 images;
A brief description / artist statement;
Personal info required in the application form.

Submitting images
Images must be in low resolution: 1920px in the largest side, 72 dpi;
Images must be in .jpg format;
Every image must be named in the following way: name_surname_number (ex. Maria_Lopez_1, Maria_Lopez_2, Maria_Lopez_3, etc…)
