Focus on Low Carbon Living Photo Contest
UKERC Launches Green Photography Competition.The UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC) has launched a new and thought-provoking photography competition for 10-18 year olds to show what ‘low carbon living’ means to them through photographs.
The best pictures will receive prizes, as well as being displayed at the following exhibitions:
* Friday 12th March. 7.30 pm: exhibition at Science Oxford
* Saturday 13th March 10.00 – 17.00: exhibition at Science Oxford
* Monday 15th March to Sunday 21st March 10.00 -17.00: at At-Bristol
This competition, part of the annual Festival of Science, aims to highlight the issue of climate change and the effects generating energy has on the environment. Applicants are invited to interpret these issues under the heading ‘Low Carbon Living’ in whatever way they choose.
About the UK Energy Research Centre
The UK Energy Research Centre is the focal point for UK research on sustainable energy. It takes an independent, whole-systems approach, drawing on engineering, economics and the physical, environmental and social sciences.
This competition is open to those aged 10-18 years.You can enter by sending your photograph with a description of why you think this picture reflects low carbon living for you. lease include your full address and phone number and date of birth, so we know what age group you belong to. It is a condition of entry that all rules are accepted as final and that the competitor agrees to abide by these rules. If you enter the competition your photograph will be published on UKERC.ac.uk and possibly used in the exhibitions that are displaying the winning pictures. We will add your first name, age and the town and your caption with your picture only.The names of the winners and runners-up will be published on UKERC.ac.uk on Friday day 26th February 2010. The judges of the competition are two profesional photographers and members of the UKERC team. The prizes are Yearly susciption to the national geographic Magazine, Photographic accessories, a family ticket and a couple of individual tickets to AT Bristol and a family ticket for Science Oxford (does not include travel to and from Bristol/Oxford) and others. No cash alternative is available. Prizes are non-transferable, non-refundable and non-changeable. Our decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Contest Prize & TERMS
COPYRIGHT: The photographer must be the sole author and owner of the copyright of photos entered in to the competition. The copyright remains with the photographer, although by entering the competition you authorise UKERC a non exclusive royalty free usage of your photo in the competition and use of this Photograph for a maximum period of 3 years with credit to the photographer where ever possible. (our events are always accessible on our website, therefore the pictures will be visible. ) The image must also not have already been professionally commissioned. We will produce an exhibition, featuring three entrants/winner in each age group, plus additional images from the runners up. If we want to use your photograph again, we will ask your permission and obtain your consent before doing so. Your moral rights will be respected; you will be credited if your photograph is published.
