CHROMOTECTURE – Architecture and Color

BANNER-SAMALL Homemade Dessert is excited to invite you once more to participate in our architectural photography competitions. This time we would like you to think about COLOR in architecture.

Color has a tremendous influence on human emotions. As Picasso once said, colors, like features, follow the changes of emotions. Although, and while perception of color is somewhat subjective, there are some color effects that have a universal influence on people. These scientific principles of color are known as chromotherapy and have been used as a form of alternative medicine since Egyptian civilization.

Whether it is used as a conceptual trigger of a project or introduced in the middle of a process to reconfigure the perception of some material or space, the truth is that color has its particular psychological function, either perceptive or systematic.

We are expecting to receive images of spaces where we can observe and feel this dual ability of colors, in both rational and emotional outcomes.

Judging criteria:

Composition (20%), technical execution (20%) and narrative (60%).

COPYRIGHT: The ownership of copyright in the work of all submissions rests with the author and shall be governed by Hong Kong Copyright law. USAGE RIGHTS: By entering the competition, the Entrant acknowledges and accepts that all aspects of any submission, including but not limited to narratives, descriptions, details, images, illustrations, and animations may be used by Homemade Dessert for publicity purposes.

The Entrant, in submitting an entry to the Competition, provides Homemade Dessert with a limited, non-exclusive, sub-licensable, worldwide, royalty-free license (but not the obligation), to use, copy, modify, translate and/or adapt, distribute, publicly display by any means and in any media and create derivative works of, and copy, distribute and publicly display such derivative works of the entry solely in connection with the inclusion of the entry in activities related to, and the promotion of, the Competition, without any further notice or remuneration to the Entrant.

The rights shall be applied to all existing or future media, and in particular all physical, optical, magnetic, analogical, digital, and electronic media, including media such as hardcopies, CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs, hard disks, computers and servers, the Internet, all private or public telecommunication networks, by cable, satellite, radio networks, etc.

By submitting the entry to the Competition the Entrant also give Homemade Dessert a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty free, irrevocable license in perpetuity to display and archive the entry on the Website and on Homemade Dessert’s Facebook, Twitter, or other social networking and media pages in relation to the Competition.

Any credits will be associated with the name the Entrant supplies to the Competition. Homemade Dessert shall make commercially reasonable efforts to display appropriate credit lines on any submission displayed or otherwise featured in such media; however Homemade Dessert shall have no duty to do so.
