These days, we’re taking more photos than ever. But between all the selfies, lunch snaps, and blurred party photos, it’s also never been harder for an image to really connect with people. Canon Shine Photo Contest is a competition that’s giving Australians the opportunity to change that. This is your chance to capture a powerful image that makes people think, or feel, or see things differently.

So find something that inspires you, or ignites your passion. In return, we could shine a light on your story – and bring your work to the eyes of people all over Australia.

The public will vote their favourites – so make sure you share your work on social media to get some support behind you. We’ll narrow it down to the 50 photos with the most votes – and after that, an expert panel will choose one winner.


Contest Prize & TERMS

PRIZE DETAILS: The Winner will receive the following prize – Canon will shine a light on what matters to him/her by:
a. bringing his/her image to life through a national advertising campaign;
b. featuring his/her image in a two month display in the NSW State Library, Sydney; and
c. creating a documentary about his/her journey to capture his/her image, which will be shared to inspire people all across Australia ELIGIBILITY: Open to Australian residents

COPYRIGHT: Each Eligible Participant warrants to the Promoter that each Entry he/she submits is his/her original work that does not infringe the rights of any third party, including but not limited to, copyright, trade marks, trade secrets, privacy, publicity, personal, confidentiality or proprietary rights USAGE RIGHTS: Eligible Participants grant the Promoter an irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence:
a. to use, reproduce, publish, communicate and display any or all of their Entries in any media, including (without limitation) publication on the Promoter’s websites or under the Promoter’s account on any social media site or service (such as Facebook and Instagram), for any purpose connected with conducting the Promotion in 2014, promoting the Promotion in 2014, and maintaining online records of the Promotion as conducted in 2014; and
b. to grant to any third party any sub-licence which is required for the purposes stated above

If the Promoter wishes to use an Eligible Participant’s Entry for purposes other than those stated above, including (without limitation) to conduct or promote a repeat of the Promotion in future years, or for purposes not connected with the Promotion, the Promoter will contact the Eligible Participant to negotiate an additional licence for such use.

The Promoter will use its best endeavours to uphold Eligible Participants’ moral rights, however Eligible Participants consent to any use of their Entries which may otherwise infringe their moral rights pursuant to the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth). This includes infringement of their right of attribution for an Entry where the Promoter deems that it is not reasonable to provide such attribution in the circumstances.
