Canon AIPP Australian Professional Photography Awards
There are many challenges working as a professional photographer. It can be a somewhat solitary existence and difficult to put your work into perspective within the Australian and world market. How good is your photography? Is it of professional standard? Is it above professional standard? Do you need to improve? Can you be rewarded for producing award winning images?
Entering APPA provides you with many answers. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s the best of its kind in the world. By submitting three or four of your images, you can challenge yourself and receive independent, authoritative feedback about your work.
To win the Canon AIPP Australian Professional Photographer of the Year is the achievement of a lifetime, a milestone in your career unlike any other. Pitched against many of the best photographers in the world, the only way you can earn this title is with four exceptional images that delight and excite a judging panel of your peers.
Category Awards
To be eligible for the Major Award, entrants must first win one of the following categories. Category winners are determined by the highest aggregate of four images entered into each category.

The 2012 AIPP Australian Fashion Photographer of the Year
The 2012 AIPP Australian Commercial Photographer of the Year
The 2012 AIPP Australian Sport Photographer of the Year
The 2012 AIPP Australian Travel Photographer of the Year
The 2012 AIPP Australian Landscape Photographer of the Year
The 2012 AIPP Australian Science Environment & Nature Photographer of the Year
The 2012 AIPP Australian Documentary Photographer of the Year
The 2012 AIPP Australian Illustrative Photographer of the Year
The 2012 AIPP Australian Fine Art Photographer of the Year
The 2012 AIPP Australian Portrait Photographer of the Year
The 2012 AIPP Australian Family Photographer of the Year
The 2012 AIPP Australian Wedding Photographer of the Year
The 2012 AIPP Australian Creative Photographer of the Year
Contest Prize & TERMS
COPYRIGHT: It is the entrant" s responsibility to obtain any and all permissions including the model releases and/or copyright owner" s permission to have the images judged and possibly displayed and published. USAGE RIGHTS: The AIPP reserves the right to reproduce any image submitted for publicity/educational purposes in Australia and overseas. This includes on websites where the use is to promote the AIPP and the Awards.
Any award winning images may be selected for the AIPP Travelling Collection.
Category Winners agree to their images being printed as a composite, framed and presented to the sponsor. This will be produced at APPA" s expense. APPA may use the digital file provided with your entry without further contact with you.
A Category Sponsor may also reproduce a Category Winner" s photographs to advertise or publicise their sponsorship of the category. The four photographs are to be reproduced together and credited with the full title of the award (e.g. John Smith, 2011 AIPP Australian Landscape Photographer of the Year, sponsored by Sponsor" s Name). The Category Sponsor does not have unrestricted rights to use your photograph in any other manner (other than as outlined above) without permission from you.
