“Urban View / Rural Sight” Competition
When artists think about place, whether it be rural or urban, they often think of it as a point of departure. One path may lead deeper into the site itself and its character, a sense artists want to absorb and express. Another path may lead away, beginning its course from connections that originated there. Perhaps a third is more fantastical, one suggested by the unexpected, yet significant, connections that the imagination creates. All of these ways are journeys and explorations that do not feel complete until they are shared
About the Juror : David Travis is the retired Curator of Photography at the Art Institute of Chicago where he directed photography exhibitions, programs, and acquisitions from 1972 until 2008. He was the founding curator of the Department of Photography in 1975, and directed and designed the major state-of-the art renovation of the galleries, study room, laboratory, and vaults in 1982.
Contest Prize & TERMS
First place: $300; Second place: $200; Third place: $100.
All exhibitors are included in the Mpls Photo Center’s online gallery. ELIGIBILITY: Open to amateur and professional photographers worldwide. Not eligible to enter? - Find contest where you are.
COPYRIGHT: By submission to this Call for Entry, artists who are accepted grant Mpls Photo Center the right to use their images for the purpose of marketing the exhibition, exhibition catalog, and subsequent display on the Center’s website of exhibitions.
Artists grant the use of their images as stated without further contact or compensation from the Center. Artist’s recognition is provided with any use.
