Better Photography – Photograph of the Year 2013 Winner
October 1, 2013Better Photography – Photograph of the Year 2013 Winner
There was some really strong competition this year (as you will agree when you visit the Better Photography Competition website and view the top images), so taking out first prize is no mean feat! And now it’s official! The winner of the 2013 Photograph of the Year competition run by Better Photography magazine is Mario Cardenas. Congratulations!
Mario’s photograph of a camel herder struck the judges for its imagination, composition and lighting. It’s a portrait that takes the art of photography a step further by bringing many creative elements together. We’ll touch base with Mario and find out a little more about the photograph and how it was taken in the near future.
Mario’s photograph earns him the overall prize of AUS $5000 cash!
And as the Emotive Portrait category winner, Mario also receives a copy of Phase One’s Capture One Pro, Nik Software’s Complete Collection of Photoshop and Lightroom applications, a Momento photobook voucher, and product from our friends at Canson paper, Sandisk memory cards and Datacolor colour management.
Thanks to all our sponsors for supporting our competition – and for providing the other five category winners with the same wonderful category prizes.
The other 2013 category winners are:
Creative Flair category winner: Suellen Cook (and yes, Suellen won this category last year as well!)
Classic Landscapes category winner: Krzysztof Browko (and yes, Krzysztof has also won before!).
Exotic Travel category winner: Bhaskar Parimala
Incredible Sport category winner: Steve Slinger
Revealing Nature category winner: Graham Morgan
And thanks also to our esteemed judges David Oliver and Tony Hewitt, AIPP Grand Masters of Photography, who joined me to make the deliberations. We certainly enjoyed the experience as well.
