Asia Without Borders 2013 Photo Competition, ASIAN Geographic’s signature photo competition will gather some of the best photos that capture the spirit of Asia in its people, icons and wildlife. We’ve raised the bar again, as each year, the battle gets tougher.

Category 1: PEOPLE OF ASIA. This category focuses on portrait photography. Here, it’s all about the eyes, but it will take more than that to catch the interest of the judges.

Category 2: WILDLIFE OF ASIA. This category focuses on wildlife photography. Action shots are always a crowd pleaser, so this may take your photos over the top!

Category 3: ICONS OF ASIA. This category pays homage to structures and elements that truly reflect the distinct and eye-catching characteristics that make Asia unique and diverse.

Category 4: YOUTH CATEGORY. This category includes all three categories, but is eligible only for those under 21 years of age, as at October 31, 2013

Judging Procedure: The Asia Without Borders Photo Competition 2013 will consist of THREE rounds of evaluation. In Round One, a panel of ASIAN Geographic editors and photography experts will review all the submitted photos, based on the following Judging Criteria: Originality (20pts), Capturing the Moment (20pts), Composition (20pts) and Overall Impact (20pts). Those entries that stand out will proceed to Round Two. In Round Two, a panel of invited Judges, from world-renowned photographers to prominent figures in the industry, will further review the entries and decide which entries will proceed to Round Three. In Round Three, a Grand Prize winner will be chosen from among all the entries, and a First Place will be awarded to the best photo in each of the categories, based on the Judging Criteria. Round Three will be a Live Open Judging Session, which anyone may attend.

As in previous years, the Live Open Judging Session promises to be a nail-biting evening for avid photographers, with lively debate and insightful criticism throughout. Join us on November 13 to see if you have made it to the final round, and find out how your work holds up against the other entries! This year, our Open “Live”Judging Session will be held at Screening Room. Complimentary food and soft drinks will be served during the event.

Housed in the creative heart of Singapore, Screening Room – which consists of two bars, a restaurant, a film theatre and a multi-function events studio – is situated in a heritage building beautifully furnished, alongside fashion boutiques; a perfect spot for you to meet like-minded photographers and admire the beautiful colours of Asia.
