As Modern As Tomorrow Photo Contest
This is a competition inspired by modernist photography in postwar Melbourne, a time in which photography was becoming a prevalent mode of art, advertising and promotion. We’ve chosen a selection of images captured by photographers like Wolfgang Sievers, Mark Strizic, Helmut Newton, Athol Shmith, Maggie Diaz, Henry Talbot, Norman Ikin and Dacre Stubbs.
We want you to recreate these photographs with your own contemporary interpretation. Take inspiration from these remarkable depictions and recast the highly styled aesthetic of postwar Melbourne in a present-day setting.
The winners will be announced at a party we’re throwing in September and will be featured in Broadsheet’s autumn print issue. They will also receive a credit for fine art printing at Michael’s Camera Video Digital.
