Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition

2009_ampc_A partnership between Appalachian State University Outdoor Programs, Turchin Center for the Visual Arts, and the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, The Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition (AMPC) celebrates the unique people, places, and pursuits that distinguish the Southern Appalachian region in the United States.

AMPC offers seven separate categories for submissions and $4,000 in cash and prizes.

Competition categories include: Adventure; Blue Ridge Parkway Vistas and Share the Journey; Culture; Our Ecological Footprint; Flora and Fauna; and Landscape.

Approximetely forty-six images will be selected in preliminary judging and will be displayed in the 7th Annual AMPC Exhibition at the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts in Boone, North Carolina – March 5 through June 5, 2010.

AMPC is made possible through the sponsorship of Virtual Blue Ridge, the premier online resource for the Blue Ridge Parkway and the generous support of Appalachian Voices; Bistro Roca, Inventive American Cuisine; Footsloggers Outdoor and Travel Outfitters; Mast General Stores; and Peabody’s Wine and Beer Merchants.

Contest Prize & TERMS

PRIZE DETAILS: $4,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded ELIGIBILITY: The competition is open to amateur and professional photographers at least 13 years of age and provides an opportunity to showcase their interpretation of the unique character, people, places, and pursuits that distinguish the Southern Appalachians.
