Aphrodite 2014 International Online Photo Competition
The Aphrodite 2014 International Online Photo Competition is organized under the patronage of FIAP and under the auspices of PSA, UPI, ISF.
Awards: 48 Medals & 4 one week Accommodations to 5-star Cyprus hotels
Sections: Open (Color), Open (Monochrome), Street Scenes, Nude
Each photographer can submit 4 works in each section
PSA Monochrome Definition:
A monochrome image is defined as having varying shades of no more than one color (various shades of that color from very light to very dark) but it may be any single color. Multi-toned images (various shades of two or more colors) and greyscale images with an added accent color are not acceptable in Monochrome Class sections and must be entered in Color Class sections.
FIAP Monochrome Definition:
A black and white work fitting from the very dark grey (black) to the very clear grey (white) is a monochrome work with the various shades of grey. A black & white work toned entirely in a single color will remain a monochrome work able to stand in the black & white category; such a work may be reproduced in black & white in the Street Scenes:
Photographs of “Street scenes” should show the environment with or without the human element presence that one can see when travelling along streets and public places or spaces, featuring subjects in candid or not situations. Framing and timing are key aspects with the aim of creating images at a decisive or poignant moment.
Close-up pictures of people or objects must include distinguishable environment. Techniques that add to, relocate, replace or remove any element of the original image, except by cropping, are not permitted. All adjustments must appear natural. Derivations, including infrared, are unacceptable.
catalogue. On the other hand a black and white work modified by partial toning or by the addition of one color becomes a color work (polychrome) to stand in the color category.
Nude photography seeks to show bodies as sculptural abstractions. Nude photography is concerned with aesthetic qualities and creativity; thus any erotic interest, although often present, is secondary. This distinguishes nude photography from both glamour photography, which focuses on showing the subject of the photograph in the most attractive way, and pornographic photography, which has the primary purpose of sexually arousing the viewer. UPI supports nude photography that can be considered “good taste”.
Extreme close-ups should be avoided. Computer enhancements, filters and turn-key features (i.e. HDR), if used, should be used judiciously.
Images of children are not allowed.
All accepted images in Nude section will count for stars and galaxies in PID color also if they are monochrome images.
