A Snapshot of the Irish in Britain Photo Contest

in-gbFrom Wogan and Wilde to Lennon and McCartney, the Irish have been coming to Britain for centuries and have contributed to their new home in many positive and diverse ways.

The Ireland Network-Great Britain (IN-GB) is now looking for photos that capture the life of Irish people or that document their influence in Britain.

  • The “A Snapshot of The Irish in Britain” competition (‘the Competition’) is open to everyone except those involved in its organisation.
  • Entries can only be photographs.
  • The competition is open to both amateur and professional photographers.
  • Photos must have been taken in Britain between 1st November 2009 and 30th November 2009.
  • The competition is open to people aged 16 years and older.
  • Entries must be accompanied with a narrative or caption of no less than 20 words, stating the time, subject matter and location of the snapshot.
  • All photos must be in digital format and in a jpeg file.
  • Photos cannot be more than 5MB in size
  • Photographic entries can only be submitted electronically

This competition is taking place during the month of November 2009. It will be judged by one of Ireland’s foremost photographers David Creedon. The Irish Embassy is sponsoring Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals for the winners and the prizes will be presented by the Irish Ambassador at the embassy in London on 27th January 2010.

All qualifying entries will be published on the website of the Ireland Network-Great Britain (www.IN-GB.co.uk) and printed in the Irish Post newspaper. A selection of entries will form part of a month long exhibition at the London Irish Centre in Camden Square during February 2010.

PRIZE DETAILS: Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals will be presented by the Irish Ambassador at the Irish Embassy in London on 27th January 2010. ELIGIBILITY: Age 16 or over. Not eligible to enter? - Find contest where you are.
