The International NGO “World Without Wars and Violence” organizes for 4th season the international photo competition “Peace Is”  There are 2 categories of entries: 1. General 2. Students

We believe that Art and more specific the art of Photography, is not uninfluenced by the social conditions. We also believe that Art is an active parameter for a transcendence view of the social conditions. At this time, humanity lives in a period of crises and big changes, with disproportional increase of violence of all forms and in all fields, personal and social. This is something that cannot be described as “Peace”… On the same time, maybe as a result of all the above, humanity starts to invent or to create new solutions, that until yesterday where just a dream or very difficult to do. Those new solutions are examples of personal and social behaviors or conditions that promote solidarity, non violence, respect, tolerance, ecology, spirituality. Those are conditions that are fundamentals for culturing and existence of Peace.

Photos can be colored, monochromes or creative (manipulated). We expect to see “pairs” with any technique or format the photographer wants. The photographers can participate by uploading up to 4 “pairs”.

The competition is under the auspices of the Greek National Committee of UNESCO, the Greek Ministry of Culture and the General Secretary of Youth of the Greek Ministry of Education. It is also supported by 10 photo clubs in Greece and abroad. This year also, the competition supports the initiative “During the nightmare, I have a dream” of the NGO World Without Wars and Violence in Greece.
