With 2018 just around the corner, it comes as no surprise that photographers are already securing themselves tickets to some of the hottest photography events happening in the new year.
We’ve rounded up just 5 of the biggest photography events occurring worldwide within the next 12 months. Trust us – you won’t want to miss them if you can help it!

Head On Photo Festival in Australia
Hosted by the Head On Foundation, this photographic festival focuses on showcasing the unique talent on offer in Australia. It has toured a number of international destinations too, including America, China, India, Europe, and New Zealand. Its aim is to bridge the gap between the Australian and international photographic markets.
This year, the Head On Photo Festival will occur from the 5th – 20th of May and will include over 100 venues, 180 exhibitions and events, and 800 exhibiting artists.
The Head On Foundation pride themselves on being inclusive of people from all backgrounds and all abilities. For example, they regularly work with indigenous Australians, the young and old, those with disabilities, and people of all cultural backgrounds.
The Photography Show 2018 in the UK
The Photography Show is the UK’s leading show for enthusiast and professional image-makers and has been running now for five years. It’ll be occurring from the 17th – 20th March in 2018 at The NEC in Birmingham.
The show explains that it is filled with “everything a passionate photography enthusiast or a well-seasoned professional photographer could possibly dream of; including the latest technology from all the leading brands, demos of the latest kit, conference sessions and a complete range of talks and seminars guaranteed to meet your needs, whatever your level.”
Each year, over 30,000 photography enthusiasts and professionals attend the event which is produced by Future PLC, an international media group and leading digital publisher.
FotoFest 2018 Biennial in Texas, USA
The FotoFest 2018 Biennial will be taking place from March 10th – April 22nd in 2018, in Houston, Texas. It will focus on contemporary photography and new media art from India, a nation of over 1.3 billion people, and the world’s largest democracy.
The event has been running for 35 years and next year’s showcase marks only the second time that the Biennial will be focusing on photographic art from Asia. During its 6-week run time, the festival often draws crowds of over 275,000 visitors from over 35 countries. It’s one of the world’s longest-running, largest, and most respected international contemporary photographic art events, so is certainly not to be missed if you find yourself in or around the state of Texas!
Photoshop World in Orlando, USA
Held at the Hyatt Regency Orlando Convention Level from May 31st – June 2nd, Photoshop World is a massive 3-day creative event full of hands-on trainings, fun events, networking and opportunities to interact and meet the best instructors in the Photography and Design community.
The organizers explain: “With 6 specialized tracks each day and over 100 classes and live shoots, regardless of your skill level we have the right training for you… we guarantee this is the most fun you’ll have learning.”
There are a number of workshops and sessions covering topics such as Photoshop, photography and lighting, Lightroom, graphic design, inspiration, business, and more. Attendees will love the incredible line-up of talent speaking at the event, including photography stars such as Scott Kelby, Joe McNally, Peter Hurley, Jeremy Cowart, and a tonne of others!
European Month of Photography in Europe
The European Month of Photography is Europe’s largest photography-related event, taking place across eight capital cities, including Athens, Berlin, Bratislava, Budapest, Ljubljana, Luxembourg, Paris, and Vienna.
Each city has something different to offer, but generally speaking, the month-long event features everything from exhibitions and conferences, to portfolio reviews, and workshops lead by world renowned authors. The dates for this event are yet to be announced for 2018, but thanks to the wide locations of the European Month of Photography, many photography enthusiasts will be able to attend.
