PHOTO CONTEST GRAFFITI Rolando Fava
– THE PHOTO CONTEST GRAFFITI Rolando Fava is now accepting entries. Over the last twenty-five years, the Graffiti School of Photography, founded by the Director, Gianni Pinnizzotto, has been organizing courses of various levels, seminars and workshops to train amateur and professional photographers as well as photography enthusiasts and future photojournalists.
In 2011 Graffiti started up a scholarship named after our colleague and friend Rolando Fava who dedicated his whole life to photojournalism. He headed the photography section at ANSA where he published the famous photograph of the finding of the dead body of Aldo Moro who was killed by the Red Brigades. At Graffiti, he trained young photoreporters. His lessons were always characterized by his strong personality, by the passion with which he always put into his profession and the enthusiasm he always managed to transmit to his students.
The contest provides a good occasion to promote photographic reportage inspired by social themes, to give more exposure and broader diffusion to this aspect of photography and to create new opportunities for those thinking of embarking on a career of photojournalism.
The images presented must adhere closely to the theme of social reportage and be supported by a brief, synthetic but effective written account of the situation portrayed. Participants are free to display their talent in the choice of the theme and the style of the work they present for the competition.
The theme is open to individual choice but must fall within the category of social reportage.
The project is to contain a maximum of 20 images and a short written description of not more than 15 lines.
The images can be black and white or colour.
The competition is about reportage which is open to free and personal interpretation.
It must tell an everyday story, reveal a slice of human life in the social realm.
The story depicted can have been photographed either in Italy or abroad.
The work submitted needs not necessarily be unpublished or carried out in the last year.
