Young Scientist Photography Competition 2012

YSJ-logo1 The Young Scientists Journal is pleased to announce the launch of its science photography competition this February. Students aged 18 and under, from anywhere in the world, are invited to submit their photos in the following categories.

• Energy – (open to all ages)
• Camouflage – (under 12 category)
• Science behind the Olympics – (12-15 category)
• The result of science (16-18 category).

Participants in this competition may only enter a maximum of one photograph for each theme that is open to them.

Photos taken using any camera, phone or other device can be submitted to compete for prizes, however, please note that the maximum file size is 8MB.Entries will be submitted with a short description (150-250 words) of the inspiration and the science behind the photo. The images will be judged on an artistic and a scientific basis, considering quality, originality and scientific relevance.

Contest Prize & TERMS

PRIZE DETAILS: For the theme open to anyone under 18, first prize will be £150 given in Amazon vouchers and Runner up £50 in Amazon vouchers.

For the other themes with age restrictions, first prize will be £75 given in Amazon vouchers and Runner up £25 in Amazon vouchers.

The winning photographs of each category, along with the runners up and others that are highly commended, will be published in a forthcoming issue of Young Scientist Journal. ELIGIBILITY: All Under 18 Not eligible to enter? - Find contest where you are.

COPYRIGHT: Please note that all pictures must be verified as the entrant's own. The use of copyrighted material is not permitted. USAGE RIGHTS: The photographs entered in this competition will be judged and seen exclusively by members of the Young Scientist Team and those allocated members of the judging panel. Those photographs which have won prizes will be published in a forthcoming issue of the Young Scientist Journal and any highly commended will also be published in this way with the photographer's permission.
