Can You See Me Now: Photos Made on Phones
Call for Entries: [Artspace] at Untitled announces a call for entries for Can You See Me Now: Photos Made on Phones, a juried exhibition of photographs made on cell phones. This exhibit will run from July 29 – October 1, 2011. This call for entries is open to local, regional and national artists.
The camera phone has come into wide use as a result of developing technologies that have upgraded the quality of the images the devices produce as well as the range of applications (apps) available for the manipulation and distribution of the images. An ever growing number of enthusiasts are making and collecting photographs made on phones, democratizing the practice of photography to the degree that whole new genres are developing such as best camera, G-tagging, and hipstamatic. Can You See Me Now: Photos Made on Phones is an invitational exhibition directed at assembling a wide range of photographs made by professionals and non-professionals alike, all of whom use cell phones to produce photographs.
From all submissions, a total of forty images, each by a different artist, will be selected. The selection committee will be made up of three nationally recognized photographers. All works selected will be printed by Untitled and framed for exhibition.
Deadline for Entries: May 15, 2011
Announcement of Selections: ¬June 6, 2011
Exhibit Opening: July 29, 2011
Exhibit Closing: October 1, 2011

Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity and the effectiveness of the use of the cell phone given its current state of technology and ability to incorporate photo apps. Up to 50 photographers will be selected for the exhibition. The judges will select one photograph to represent each photographer. Announcement of the selection of photographers will be made on June 6 on the www.artspaceatuntitled.org website, in that day’s e-news and by e-mail directly to the photographers selected.
