Amateur Photographer of the Year Competition

The Times/Canon Young Photographer of the Year

timesonline-logoThe Times has launched the eighth Times Young Photographer of the Year Award. The winner of the competition, which is sponsored by Canon, will win a six-month full-time contract with TNL and a year’s membership to the British Press Photographer’s Association.

The winner will be someone who can show flair and imagination – whose work is visually exciting. Entrants will need to submit photographs in three different categories:

a. Lifestyle

b. Portraiture

c. Reportage

It’s up to you to interpret those different subjects and send us three images – one image for each category – that you think will make the judges sit up and pay attention. Don’t try to be too clever: if you need to explain your picture in a lengthy caption then the picture isn’t working. A powerful picture needs no explanation – it speaks for itself.
