1X Photo Awards 2011
1x Photo Awards is an exclusive photo contest by the curated photo gallery and photo community 1x.com. Our mission is to promote photography as an art form. We help photographers develop their skills, because we believe that anyone can become an artist.
There is no general theme to the competition for the first second and third prizes, any photo can be entered.
Except the three grand prizes, there are honorable mentions in 10 different categories: Architecture, Conceptual, Documentary, Editing, Fine Art Nude, Landscape, Macro, Nature, People and Street. There will be two honorable mentions in each category, one appointed by the judge and one appointed by a public vote.
The winners and honorable mentions will be promoted on the front page of 1x.com to our 3 million monthly unique visitors as well as in social media.
Judge
We are very proud to present our judge for this year, Anna Tellgren, photography curator at the Modern Museum in Stockholm, Sweden’s finest venue for photography!
The winners will be announced November 1, 2011.
Contest Prize & TERMS
Second prize - $500 in cash.
Third prize - $250 in cash.
All the winners and the 20 honorable mentions will receive a pro membership at 1x.com ($199) as well as our highly popular photo book "In Pursuit of the Sublime" ($99). ELIGIBILITY: All Not eligible to enter? - Find contest where you are.
COPYRIGHT: All rights still belong to the original copyright holder. USAGE RIGHTS: 1x only claims the right to display your uploaded photos on our site. 1x.com also claims the right to display small thumbnails of your photos on other sites, like Facebook, linked to 1x.
1x does not claim the right to sell your photos if you have not decided to participate in print sales. It is not possible to delete individual photos from 1x.com, but if there are legal reasons, contact support with your request and we will help you out. If you no longer wish to be a member of this community, you can request deletion of your account and all your photos will be removed after a grace period of three months, so you have the chance to change your mind.
We don't claim any rights over high resolution uploads, we just store them. When participating in a book project, we will specifically ask for your permission to use a certain image. If you participate in print sales high resolution files are used for printing and might be used for marketing prints.
