11th Appalachian Mountain Photo Contest
ASU Outdoor Programs, the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation and the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts present the 11th Appalachian Mountain Photo Contest and Exhibition. AMPC is made possible through the sponsorship of Virtual Blue Ridge, the premier online resource for the Blue Ridge Parkway. This competition provides both amateur and professional photographers the opportunity to showcase their interpretation of the unique character, people, places, and pursuits that distinguish the Southern Appalachians.
A portion of the proceeds from the Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition support Outdoor Programs Student Outdoor Learning Expeditions at Appalachian State University. SOLE trips are educational journeys of discovery that take students around the world. Visit the Outdoor Programs website to find out more information on the Student Outdoor Learning Expeditions program at ASU.
Participants may enter up to three (3) images per category:
ADVENTURE – Imagery depicting mountain sports such as climbing, kayaking, mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, etc.
BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY—People on the Parkway – The photographer is challenged to capture People on the Parkway, on the road, in the backcountry, or at any of the parks along its 469 miles. Photos can include visitors or people at work. Entries will be judged on creativity, impact, subject matter, center of interest, and storytelling – effectively sharing the journey by celebrating People of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The winning image in this category will receive a $500 cash award, provided by the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation.
CULTURE – Imagery depicting the people, their customs, traditions, architecture and ways of life unique to the Southern Appalachian region.
