FEI Solidarity World Photo Grand Prix

FEI Solidarity World Photo Grand Prix The FEI Solidarity World Photo Grand Prix, a competition aimed at uncovering new photographic talent around the world in 2014, the Chinese Year of the Horse, has been launched today by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI).

The joint initiative with Action Images/Thomson Reuters encourages amateur and professional photographers to submit images that capture an aspect of equestrian sport and lifestyles in a memorable and eye-catching way.

Competition categories:

  • (a) Professional Photographers;
  • (b) Amateurs and Enthusiasts;
  • (c) Abstract Award;
  • (d) Photography Students;
  • (e) Youth Award (under 16 years);
  • (f) Horse Portrait;
  • (g) Rider Portrait;
  • (h) Equestrian Venue Photographic.

A world-class, international judging panel will be called upon to deliver the winning verdict and launch an aspiring sports photographer’s career. The panel is made up of:

• Her Royal Highness Princess Haya, FEI President

• Bob Rosato, legendary sports photographer and COO of USA Today

• Melissa Farlow, award-winning National Geographic photographer

• Mark Adams, Director of Communications at International Olympic Committee

• Giuseppe Della Chiesa, Chair FEI Eventing Committee and international course designer

• Alan Whiter, Vice President of Action Images

• Deirdre Lyons, Co-Founder and Director of Corporate Image and Design at Alltech

• Ingrid Klimke, two-time Olympic Eventing champion

• Arnd Bronkhorst, internationally renowned equestrian photographer

• Dustin Vaughn-Luma, mobile photography and visual design specialist

Contest Prize & TERMS

PRIZE DETAILS: The competition is divided into nine categories, and the individual winners will receive a Samsung tablet, a personalised leather photography portfolio and an Action Images/Thomson Reuters master class.

The overall winner of the FEI Solidarity World Photo Grand Prix will be invited to the FEI’s flagship event, the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 (23 August-7 September) in Normandy, France, to work with a Thomson Reuters photographer and experience unparalleled, behind-the-scenes access to the world’s top equestrian talent.

Winning entries in the FEI Solidarity World Photo Grand Prix will also be exhibited in the FEI Pavilion in the heart the Games village. ELIGIBILITY: Open to All Not eligible to enter? - Find contest where you are.

COPYRIGHT: By submitting Images to the Competition, each Entrant confirms and warrants that:
(a) He/she is the sole author of each submitted Image and that it their original work;
(b) He/she owns the copyright and any other intellectual property rights of each Image;
(c) He/she has obtained, prior to the submission of the Image, the permission of those pictured in the Image (or, where the Image shows any persons under 18, the consent of their parent or guardian) for the usage rights required in the section on licensing below and will indemnify the FEI and Reuters against any claims made by any third parties in respect of such infringement;
(d) He/she has not licensed or disposed of any rights in the Image that would conflict with uses to be made in the licensing section below;
(e) He/she has obtained the consent of the owner of any private property featured in an Image (this being particularly relevant for the “Equestrian Venue” category); and(f) He/she agrees to take part in any post-Competition publicity.

Each Entrant will retain full copyright for their Image(s) USAGE RIGHTS: By entering the Competition, each Entrant is deemed to grant the FEI a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable license to reproduce, enlarge, publish, exhibit or create derivative works, on any media (now or hereafter known) and in whatever forum the FEI may choose, the Images. This may include, but is not limited to:
News coverage of the competition;
FEI and Reuters websites;
FEI and Reuters social media to include Facebook and Twitter;
Exhibitions;
Publications – such as leaflets, calendars and reports; and
Press releases.

The FEI/Reuters reserves the right to request each potential winner to sign and return, within a specified period following notification, a legally binding written confirmation (in a form to be provided to the relevant Entrants) in which the Entrant warrants that he/she is the owner of the photograph (and all the intellectual property rights in the photograph submitted) and grants to FEI, Reuters and their licensees the irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide non-exclusive license to reproduce, distribute, display, and create derivative works of the entry (along with a name credit) in connection with the Competition and promotion of the Competition without additional compensation. Failure to execute and deliver any required documents to FEI/Reuters by the specified deadline may result in disqualification from the Competition and selection of an alternate potential winner.

Wherever possible, the Entrant’s Image will be credited to the Entrant.Failure to publish a credit due to error or oversight shall not be deemed a breach of this condition
