The Enigmatic Object Photo Contest

The Enigmatic Object Photo Contest Filter Photo is pleased to announce an open call for photographic work for a juried exhibition, The Enigmatic Object Photo Contest. This will be Filter’s 7th juried exhibition, and it will be held at Johalla Projects, a gallery located in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood. The exhibition will run from March 7th – March 28th, with an opening reception on March 7th.

Theme: The Enigmatic Object

This is an open call for photographic and time-based works that entertain the uncanny and unpredictable proclivities in inert things. The jurors welcome interpretive responses of all kinds. They are particularly interested in responses that consider one of more of the following:

relations between nonhuman bodies

human and nonhuman interventions in landscapes and architecture

specific, designated moments in temporal, economic, and historical narratives and realities

The Enigmatic Object will be co-juried by artist, curator, and director of the Detroit Center for Contemporary Photography Kyohei Abe, and artist, writer, and curator Caroline Picard.

Important Dates

February 3rd: Deadline for submissions
Mid-February: Entrants are notified of juror’s decision
March 1st: Accepted work must arrive at gallery
March 7th: Exhibition opens with a reception
March 28th: Exhibition closes

PRIZE DETAILS: Exhibition will be held at Johalla Projects, a West Town Gallery in Chicago. The opening reception with the artists will be held Friday March 7, 2014. ELIGIBILITY: International / 18+
