U.S.A. Landscape Photographer of the Year

USALPOTY ​The U.S.A. Landscape Photographer of the Year is a new international photography competition that puts the spotlight on talented photographers from around the world and celebrates the rural and urban landscape of the U.S.A. Entries must be images made in the U.S.A.
The title of U.S.A Landscape Photographer of the Year 2014 will be awarded to the individual who is deemed, in the opinion of the judges, to have entered the strongest portfolio of 3 images. The portfolio can be either a collection of individual images entered within any combination of the award categories, or a considered portfolio series entered within one category.

The title Young U.S.A Landscape Photographer of the Year 2014, will be awarded to the person under 21 years of age at 1st November, 2013 who is deemed, in the opinion of the judges, to have entered the strongest portfolio of 3 images. The portfolio can be either a collection of individual images entered within any combination of the award categories, or a considered portfolio series entered within one category.

There are 5 Image Category Awards:

Classic View – color images of rural landscape in the United States of America
Urban Landscape – literal or abstract color images of cities and towns in the United States of America
My USA – What does the USA landscape mean to you? Pretty much anything goes, as long as it is in the USA and in the outdoors. Use your imagination, as you have the scope for a very conceptual and personal approach.
Black & White – literal or abstract monochrome images of any landscape subject in the United States of America and may be in panoramic format
Landscape on the Move – literal or abstract color images made in the United States of America using a compact camera

The winner of the categories - Classic View, Urban Landscape, My U.S.A. and Black & White - will each receive: US$500, A place in the Winners’ Exhibition for their winning image, Winning image showcased online with popphoto.com and USA Today, An annual subscription to the winner’s choice of Popular Photography or American Photo, A ThinkTank My 2nd Brain Tablet bag:.

The winner of the Landscape on the Move category will receive: A Panasonic G3 Series SLR Camera with a fixed lens (worth over US$1,500), A place in the Winners’ Exhibition for their winning image, Winning image showcased online with popphoto.com and USA Today, An annual subscription to the winner’s choice of Popular Photography or American Photo, A ThinkTank My 2nd Brain Tablet bag

Each winner of the Judge’s Choice Awards will each receive any of the following prizes that their image has not already won by virtue of winning another award:

On-line portfolio review and mentoring session with a final panel judge, A place in the Winners’ Exhibition for their winning image, Winning images showcased online with popphoto.com and USA Today, An annual subscription to the winner’s choice of Popular Photography or American Photo, A ThinkTank My 2nd Brain Tablet bag:

Each Category Runner-Up and winner of a Highly Commended Award will receive: A place in the Winners’ Exhibition for their winning image

A selection of Semi-Finalist images will be showcased in an on-line gallery at USATODAY.com ELIGIBILITY: Open to All

COPYRIGHT: By submitting images to the Competition, each entrant confirms and warrants that:
a) they are the sole author of each entry and that it is their original work;
b) they own the copyright and any other intellectual property rights of each image;
c) they have the permission of those pictured in the image (or, where the image shows any persons under 18, the consent of their parent/guardian) for the usage rights required by LPOY and will indemnify LPOY against any claims made by any third parties in respect of such infringement;
d) they have not licensed or disposed of any rights in the image that would conflict with uses to be made by the Competition; and
e) they have received any necessary permissions from the owner(s) of buildings included in submitted images for the usage rights required by the Competition and will indemnify LPOY against any claims made by any third parties in respect of such infringement.

You will retain the copyright of all the images you submit. USAGE RIGHTS: By entering the competition, you grant LPOY and its sponsors and supporters including but not limited to USA TODAY, Popular Photography, American Photo, Popphoto.com, Amateur Photography and Outdoor Photography, a non-exclusive, irrevocable licence to reproduce, enlarge, publish or exhibit, on any media, the images for any purpose related to the Competition. This may include, but is not limited to:
a) inclusion in any Competition book – print & digital versions;
b) display at any exhibitions;
c) on a secure web browser for judging purposes;
d) on the Competition website and on the websites of sponsors and supporters, including but not limited to, USA TODAY, Popular Photography, American Photo, Popphoto.com, Amateur Photography and Outdoor Photography;
e) for use in press, promotional and marketing materials – both print & digital that may be published before, during or after the Competition.

Entrants also agree that the organisers can sub-license images to the media and to the Competition’s sponsors and supporters for reproduction in connection with the Competition.

Images used on merchandise commissioned by the organisers will be discussed individually with the photographer concerned and a separate agreement made.
